I only learned of International Women’s Day about five years ago when I worked at a school in Seattle with three other girls.  Two of the three were Russian.

One day the office was flooded with bouquets of flowers & cell phones were blowing up with well-wishes.  I was intrigued.

Come to find out that International Women’s Day is a pretty big deal in Russia, so everyone was celebrating!

I’ve since heard my sister, who lives in Moscow, speak of it.  And noticed that Facebook even highlighted it a year or two ago.

So why do we not actively acknowledge this here in the US?  I think we need to change that!

Particularly in today’s climate.  We need to celebrate women.  We need to look back at the strong women who came before us and look ahead at this new generation that we are raising.

It’s so important that we show our girls how valuable they, and their voices, are and to instill this respect in our boys as well.

So please take some time to celebrate the women in your life and pay homage to those who are no longer with us on International Women’s Day (and Women’s History Month).

In honor of this special day, I invite you to check out some fun International Women’s Day ideas for celebrating with your family.  Enjoy!

Is your current method working fine, but you’re looking for something better?

You are not alone!  As a mama of two biracial little ones, I feel your pain.  I have been there!

I’m glad you’re here and I hope that I can make life a little bit easier for you!  Before I get into all of that, let me tell you just a tiny bit about me/us!

I have two beautiful boys, so beautiful, in fact, that they are often mistaken for girls.  [Don’t tell them I told you that!]

And we have chosen to grow their hair out because they’ve been blessed with gorgeous locks.  The little one is only two, so it’s not very long yet, but his curls appear to be headed in the direction of Curly 3B.  But our eldest is eight and has very long hair which is definitely classic Curly 3C.  You can view these hair types HERE.

I am sharing this method with you today because we are asked, almost daily, how we do his hair to get it to look the way it does.

Below are the very steps that we take to avoid tears and get perfect biracial curls every time:

My Oily Story

My personal story of how essential oils came into my life. Read to find out why I became obsessed with Young Living and how I got to where I am now. #oilymama #oilyfamily #essentialoils

Oils

My oily story is quite unique and actually started long ago.  Long, long ago…like childhood long ago.  My aunt got involved with an essential oils organization called Melaleuca, which I now know comes from the scientific name of the Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia).  So Tea Tree oil quickly became a staple in our home when I was a kid and a “cure-all” for any ailment.  We used it on burns, to clear up acne, to clean, etc.  We also began using various household products made by the company like shampoo/conditioner & cleaning supplies.

As time went on we became more and more reliant on certain things, like this one supplement called “Activate” which we used anytime we feel like we were getting sick.  And I also used their full line of prenatal vitamins when I was expecting my first son.  Great stuff!

That was all great and wonderful, but I didn’t really ever give it much thought.  I also didn’t realize that Tea Tree oil is an essential oil and it’s not the only one with incredibly useful properties.  However, as the years went on + I became an adult, I began to see more and more of my acquaintances referencing essential oils.  It kinda piqued my interest, but I was too busy to really explore.
