Do you find it challenging to balance your goal of clean eating with the holiday expectations of your family? Do you wish you could just put together a healthy family Thanksgiving menu to please everyone?
We’re fast approaching November, which means that it’s time for one of my absolute favorite holidays! I’ve always love, love, loved Thanksgiving!
The two best parts of the holiday are the food and time with family. But I think you’ll agree that it can be quite challenging to combine healthy foods with the rich expectations of your family. Particularly if you have picky little ones.
This post should make a world of difference to that end. This is your key to a healthy family Thanksgiving meal including all of the traditional favorites. These recipes will please even the pickiest eaters at your holiday table!
Healthy Family Thanksgiving Recipes
Best Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe via yellowblissroad
Doesn’t this turkey look just ah-mazing? Crispy on the outside, but tender + juicy on the inside! There are only 4 ingredients plus the spice rub. Just make sure to use ghee instead of butter. [Paleo – Whole30]
Paleo ‘Cornbread’ Stuffing via Cook Eat Paleo
This one takes some prep time, so plan ahead. Stuffing is my favorite and this is the closest I could find to a traditional stuffing/dressing recipe without grain. This is chock full of yummy veggies and you really won’t miss the corn or grain here.
I prefer to use pink Himalayan salt over sea salt and also would probably use either a chicken bone broth unless you’re doing a vegetarian option with veggie stock/broth. [Paleo – Grain Free – Gluten Free]
Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes via Livin’ The Crunchy Life
I love this recipe because it is true to the traditional mashed potato prep, with modifications to make it Whole30 compliant. How can it not be amazing? The only update I would make would be to add some rosemary – yum! [Paleo – Whole30]
The BEST Paleo & Whole30 Gravy via Tastes Lovely
Just 3 ingredients plus salt + pepper. Again, I would recommend bone broth + pink Himalayan salt when making this recipe. So simple, yet effective. Delish! [Paleo – Whole30 – Grain Free – Dairy Free]
Whole30 Green Bean Casserole via 40 aprons
Ah…another classic! But can you make it without all the cream and processed ingredients? Sure you can! It just takes a little creativity! This recipe comes closest to the original.
It says prep time is only 10 minutes – I would allow more time than that. But this one is so worth it! [Paleo – Whole30 – Grain Free – Dairy Free – Gluten Free]
Garlic Herb Paleo Dinner Rolls via Paleo Running Momma
This is another one that amazes me – how can you make rolls with no grain or dairy? But she does it here! Note – your egg needs to be room temperature, so keep this in mind when you’re planning your schedule. Also, she will give you the recipe to make corn-free baking powder for Paleo prep. [Paleo – Grain Free – Dairy Free]
Paleo (or Vegan!) Sweet Potato Casserole via One Lovely Life
We always had candied yams for Thanksgiving when I was little. I was not a huge fan. But then we discovered the sweet potato souffle from the Honey Baked Ham Co. and we fell in love!
Unfortunately, the quality has gone down over the past few years, so we’ve been making our own lately. This is a much healthier version of the classic sweet potato casserole. You will love it! [Paleo]
I grew up on the classic Ocean Spray jellied cranberries that just slid right out of the can with those famous ridges. I’m not going to lie and say that I don’t still love it.
But there are definitely healthier options that are just as tasty. This is at the top of that list! I so *love* that this can be made in either the Instant Pot or slow cooker! [Paleo – Whole30]
Paleo Pumpkin Pie via Bakerita
Pumpkin pie is my #1 favorite Thanksgiving food. I cannot live without it! So I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to find this recipe!
A couple tips to make this just perfect: the eggs need to be room temperature and make sure to be careful not to burn the crust. You can use a pie crust shield or even foil to help with this. [Paleo – Dairy Free – Gluten Free]
This should be every recipe you need to make a healthy family Thanksgiving meal complete with all the fixins! I really hope that your family loves these recipes and you feel good serving them!
